The trip at a glance
Two Kazakhstans in a single trip.
We start with Mangystau, a legendary desert still little known to travellers. Millions of years ago, this was the bottom of a sea. As it retreated, it sculpted unreal landscapes: the white cliffs of Bozzhyra, the striped hills of Tiramisu, a dried-up salt lake as far as the eye can see. In the evening, we camp under a starry sky.
Then we fly to the Almaty region and its mountains. On the menu: the singing dune of Altyn-Emel national park, Charyn canyon, the turquoise lakes of Kaindy and Kolsai, horse rides across the steppes, and the Assy plateau, among yurts and free-roaming horses.

Day-by-day itinerary
Your adventure begins in Aktau, a city on the shores of the Caspian Sea and the gateway to the legendary Mangystau desert.
Your hotel room is available from 2 pm, so you can settle in and rest after your journey.
We meet around 6 pm with your guide and the rest of the group. We get to know each other and introduce the adventure ahead. Our first evening all together… and the first fits of laughter!

Accommodation and transport
An authentic and cultural mix that gives the trip all its charm: along the way, you'll sleep in different types of accommodation, from traditional yurts to hotels, including a night under canvas in the middle of the desert. A way to experience Kazakhstan as close to its culture as possible.
All transport on site is included. A 4x4 road trip, plus a domestic flight between Aktau and Almaty on day 4. Driving is shared: if you'd like to get behind the wheel, you can drive. If not, no problem, the guide and the other members of the group will take care of it.
Flights and practical info
Arrive at Aktau airport (SCO) on day 1. Hotel check-in available from 2 pm, so you can settle in. Meeting with the group around 6 pm.
The trip ends on day 12 at 10 am, in Almaty (Almaty airport, ALA).
